Ayurvedic Wellness Spotlight: March
At its core, āyurveda is a practice of syncing our daily lives with the seasons. This means changing routines, self-care practices, movement practices, and the foods we eat with the seasons.
During kapha season (February-May) it is recommended that we wake up in the morning before the heavy, dull kaphic qualities set in. We consider the hours between 6am and 10am to be the kapha time of day — this is the time when heavy, dull kapha is predominant. Sleeping into the kapha period of the day can result in lethargy, sluggishness, and mental fog.
Now that the sun is popping up earlier it’s time to set your alarm to wake up with the sun. In addition to this earlier wake time, it’s a good idea to get some vigorous movement in first thing in the morning — put on some layers an take a brisk early morning walk, roll out your mat for a few rounds of sun salutation, join us on Tuesday and Thursday at 6am for our Rise and Shine Flow class, or simply put on your favorite song and have an early morning dance session. Whatever you do, get up and get moving!
