Don't Skip 'em

Breakfast and lunch are the two most often skipped meals. While skipping a meal might be appropriate for someone with a kapha imbalance, it’s definitely not recommended for those with vata or pitta constitutions, imbalances, or during vata season.

The recipes below will help inspire you to eat your breakfast and lunch! The baked oatmeal is hearty and warm and perfect for grounding vata (and you’ll have some leftovers to heat up the next day). The soup is also a great make-ahead meal that will feed you at lunch for several days. Both recipes come from one of my teachers, Nishita Shah, from the Ayurvedic Institute.

One of the reasons breakfast and lunch so often get skipped is lack of time and lack of planning. Make ahead meals like these are super important if you work outside of the home. Set aside a day to cook, and then package the leftovers in single servings to grab as you are heading out the door in the morning.
